With more than 15,000 professional personal and business coaches representing over 90 countries, the ICF is the voice of the global coaching profession.

Ed Modell, JD, PCC, is Past President of the Metro DC Charter Chapter of ICF, in Washington DC, with over 600 professional coaches, and a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute's certification program. Ed was Chair of the ICF Global Regulatory Committee for two years and is co-founder of the ICF Conflict Coaching Special Interest Group. Ed is a certified Executive and Life Coach specializing in working with government, small business and non-profit executives and professional service providers. Ed also serves as the Judiciary Employee Ombuds for Maryland State Court employees in Annapolis, Maryland. In that capacity, he provides confidential and informal conflict coaching, mediation and facilitation services for workplace problems and concerns. Ed initiated this program in 2006 and reports directly to the Chief Judge of Maryland.

Before becoming a coach in 2003, Ed practiced law for 28 years at several major law firms in Washington, DC. He is also a professional mediator and helped to found the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Maryland, a private, nonprofit community mediation center that provides mediation and meeting facilitation services to county residents. Ed earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from Yale University, and served as an officer in the United States Air Force.
